I created interactive seed bombs inspired by Skip Garden’s sustainable community mission, using design to physically engage people and promote awareness of this unique mobile garden in London.

Challenges
During my time studying abroad at the University of the Arts London, I was challenged to choose a location in London and convey a day-in-the-life of that space through graphic design. The task was abstract, allowing for creativity, but required finding a way to represent the culture and story of the chosen site in a meaningful and engaging way.
My Approach
I focused on the Skip Garden, a unique mobile community garden that repurposes construction skips and features a cafe serving food grown onsite. Inspired by its educational and sustainable mission, I chose to create interactive seed bombs representing breakfast, lunch, and dinner, each containing seeds for plants associated with those meals. I designed packaging with colors, illustrations, and information about Skip Garden to promote the space and invite community involvement.
Results
The project produced three distinct seed bombs, each symbolizing a different meal and promoting Skip Garden’s mission of sustainability and community outreach. The packaging provided educational content and calls to action, allowing the seed bombs to serve as both a physical product and a storytelling tool that encourages people to engage with and support the garden.
Future Plans
This project sparked a desire to explore more hands-on, sustainable design solutions that engage communities and raise awareness about environmental and social initiatives. I plan to continue developing creative, tangible ways to connect people with meaningful spaces and causes.
Conclusion
The Skip Garden seed bomb project demonstrated how design can move beyond traditional media to create interactive experiences that embody a location’s mission. It reinforced the power of creativity in promoting sustainability and community, while inspiring me to pursue innovative ways to make design impactful and engaging.
